DPA Microphones introduced its new 2061 Miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone at IBC 2024. This new microphone is designed for audio professionals looking to capture voice with all its nuances, offering simplicity and durability along with DPA's iconic natural sound.
From broadcast studios and ENG applications to theaters, events, or places of worship, the 2061 stands out as a high-quality and easy-to-use solution for live applications and recordings.
Compact design and natural sound
The 2061 microphone was designed to appeal to audio professionals who are not yet part of the DPA family and are looking to enhance the quality of their audio capture with a clear, hassle-free microphone.
We launched the 2061 to provide a high-quality option for professionals looking to upgrade their equipment. With its robust design and DPA's premium sound, the 2061 does not compromise on excellence and is a worthy competitor to other well-known and widely used models, says Helga Volha Somava, Product Management Director at DPA Microphones.
Inspired by other DPA lavaliers, the 2061 features a simplified 5 mm capsule that ensures superior performance in the frequency range from 50 Hz to 16 kHz, with a maximum SPL of 128 dB. Its omnidirectional pickup pattern captures the human voice with high fidelity and minimal coloration, regardless of direction. The microphone's flat frequency curve includes a slight boost of 3 dB between 8 kHz and 16 kHz, allowing for authentic capture without the need for specific adjustments for common lavalier positions.
Robust construction and durability for any environment
The 2061 stands out not only for its sound quality but also for its durability and resistance, essential features for audio professionals in demanding environments. Equipped with a 1.5-meter Kevlar reinforced cable and flexible strain relief, the microphone withstands physical stress and offers advanced sweat-repellent capabilities. Its IP57 certification ensures protection against dust and temporary water exposure, ensuring the device operates smoothly in adverse conditions.

"The construction of the 2061 is what DPA users expect: durability, reliability, and ease of maintenance”, says Somava. "Its robust design allows for an extended lifespan, even in the most challenging work environments”.
Versatility and easy integration into any setup
The 2061 stands out from other high-end DPA models by including permanent connector options compatible with 3-pin LEMO, TA4F, and Mini-Jack, making it a simpler solution for use in chaotic work environments that require quick and effective results. Additionally, it is available in various colors including black, white, beige, and brown to discreetly blend into any outfit, making it ideal for live productions and dynamic content recordings.
The microphone also benefits from DPA's accessories, such as the SCM0035 Lavalier microphone clip, compatible with the 2061, 6060, and 6061 lavaliers, offering integrated cable management, 360-degree microphone rotation, and an easy-to-open clip with a non-slip surface. For outdoor applications, the AIR1 Universal Miniature Fur Windscreen provides additional wind protection, while clips SCM0030 and SCM0034 and DUA056 series foam are also compatible.

Commitment to sustainability and user experience
DPA Microphones has implemented new environmental initiatives focused on reducing the impact of its packaging and shipping. The 2061 comes in a reusable and resealable bag, providing a practical advantage for users while minimizing weight and volume for transport. Additionally, the microphone comes with a limited two-year warranty, reflecting DPA's commitment to quality and durability.
With the 2061, DPA Microphones expands its lavalier portfolio, offering audio professionals a reliable and accessible solution that does not sacrifice sound quality. This new microphone not only facilitates audio capture in any situation but also reaffirms DPA's position as a leader in innovation in audio solutions for the professional industry.
