From ball impact to the mix: Shure fine-tunes sports audio at IBC 2026

Shure will participate in IBC 2026 with a selection of technologies designed for broadcast and audiovisual production workflows. The company will be located in Hall 8, Stand 8.B33, where it will showcase solutions for audio capture, wireless monitoring and AI-powered audio processing.

Among the systems on display at the show will be the DCA901 Broadcast Microphone Array, a microphone array developed for sound capture in broadcast and media production applications.

The DCA901 is designed to carry multiple audio channels efficiently and flexibly. Its approach aims to simplify the deployment of audio capture systems and facilitate their integration into production environments with complex workflows.

Source separation for live sports

Shure will also demonstrate Action Isolator, a software solution that applies AI-powered audio processing to live sports production.

The system can process up to eight audio channels and enables operators to isolate specific action-related sounds, such as ball impacts, player movements and commentary, while simultaneously reducing crowd and ambient noise.

This separation gives engineers greater control over the individual sources within the mix. According to the company, Action Isolator operates in real time with ultra-low latency, with the aim of delivering cleaner, more immersive mixes without compromising the operational requirements of a live broadcast.

Five projects within the IBC Accelerator Programme

Following its participation in the IBC Accelerator Programme 2025, Shure will collaborate again in 2026 on several research and development initiatives promoted by the show.

This year’s projects address areas including AI-assisted production, immersive live experiences, sustainable virtual production, speech intelligibility and the technological evolution of sports broadcasting.

Shure is participating in the following initiatives:

  • IFeL: Immersive Festival Live – Remote Presence at Scale, focused on the development of immersive experiences and large-scale remote-presence models.
  • SMART STORIES: The Agentic Production Ecosystem, dedicated to exploring production ecosystems based on agentic AI systems.
  • VooPla: The Decision Twin, focused on analysing new models for decision-making support.
  • Crystal Clear: Boosting Speech Intelligibility in Media, aimed at improving speech intelligibility in audiovisual content.
  • AI for Live Sports and Beyond: Rewiring Live Media via Agentic AI Orchestration and “meCast”, investigating the application of agentic AI orchestration to live media and sports production.

These initiatives bring together broadcasters, manufacturers, technology providers and industry specialists to explore new models for content creation and distribution, as well as potential improvements to audience experiences.

Technical demonstrations at the stand

In addition to presenting these technologies, the Shure team will offer live demonstrations and hands-on sessions for professionals working in broadcast installations, wireless infrastructures and audio production.

The company’s specialists will be available to discuss visitors’ technical requirements and explain how its solutions can be integrated into different production environments and workflows.
